Cat Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Bugsy" , 6x6 Animal Art SOLD

My friend, Lou, posted this painting of her kitten on facebook.  I asked for permission to use  her photo months ago, and finally got around to painting it this week.

SOLD
Why are we so fascinated with cats?  For me, it's there playful attitude and their ability to contort their bodies into odd poses ( like this) or squeeze into tiny places.

I always love watching them stalk some odd little object, pouncing fast and high.  For me, it's the same appeal as watching a baby discover it's hand for the first time.

Hope you like it, Lou.

Thanks for reading my little blog today..

Wildlife Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, "Gray Squirrel" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil SOLD

Have you ever tried to photograph wildlife?  I have, and consider it an exercise in frustration.  Many blurred images later, my friend and photographer, Ted Fuhrer, offered me the use of his images.  Thanks so much, Ted.

SOLD
This little guy looks very inquisitive and ready to bolt at the least movement.

I enjoyed experimenting with painting his fur and directing the viewer's eye.  The animal is much the same color as the background in this scene.

I put it in one of my black frames.  They seem to work perfectly for just about any painting.

Happy day to you!

Cow Painting, Daily Painting, "Bovine Portrait" by Carol Schiff, 11x14 Oil on Linen

A client wanted a cow painting, for licensing purposes.  I usually do daily painting of still life or landscape, but I have to admit I enjoyed both the horse, they originally chose,  and this cow painting.

I painted on Senso linen canvas.  I had a pad of the linen around for several years but didn't really know what to do with it.  I found it had a different texture than the cotton canvas I usually paint on, but once I got into the painting, it was fine.

My next problem was what to do with this unstretched painting.  After surveying several friends, I mounted it on a cradled wood panel.  I was told the perfect glue to use is YES GLUE available at craft stores.  I had some in my stash and I have to say it worked like a charm.  Then I trimmed the edges with a exacto knife and it turned out perfectly.  Now I can use the rest of my Senso linen canvas with no fear!

So, today I stretched my limits, both with the Senso canvas and the cow painting, and luckily both worked out for me!

Pelican Painting, Wildlife Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 9x12" Original Art, SOLD

We spent a lovely afternoon at Pt Canaveral recently.  Of course, we were surrounded by birds.

I was inspired by this pelican, hunkered down on a piling.

SOLD
I realized that many of the paintings, that give me the most joy, are birds.  I am committed to painting more of them.

The biggest block is getting good photos to work from.

I want to share some of my other photos from this trip to Pt. Canaveral.

As you can see, it was a wonderful day.  Grandson came along, making it even more special!

BRANDY, 6X8, OIL, SOLD

Brandy is a sweetheart of a dog.  She lives with a friend of mine.  Carla and Brandy spend time visiting nursing homes and bringing a little joy into the lives of the residents they meet.  I know how important this is because my mother lived in a nursing home.  She always tells me when someone brings a dog in.  She is a dog lover from way back and it is amazing how a minute or two with a dog will brighten her day.  Thanks, Carla!

He captured an image of this inquisitive blue jay.

I like the effect of this chunky black frame.  It really makes an impact on the wall and black frames always make color pop.

Have a great day and thanks for reading my blog today.

News from Carol Schiff Studio!

Hello all!  It has been very busy here at Carol Schiff Studio and I have some exciting news to share with you.

I have recently opened a site on a wonderful handmade marketplace called GoImagine.com.  What makes this site different, is that they donate 100% of their profits to needy children.  No billionaire CEO's or stockholders to pay off, just maker's selling their products.

My expenses are much lower on this site, and I am passing that on to my buyer's with lower prices.  Everybody wins!

I hope you will stop bye for a visit:  https://goimagine.com/carols-original-painting/.  I add new listings daily.
