Florida Wildlife Egret Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting,

One of the joys, of living in Florida, was the abundant wildlife.  It was thrilling to view these majestic birds, almost daily, from my window.

This one was painted from a photograph, as are most of my work.  He had some glorious shadows on him that I could not ignore.

This is one of those few paintings, that seemed to come easily.  It has left me eager to return to the easel, re-charged and ready to tackle my next project.  I love it when that happens!!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Tropical Fish Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Palette Knife Painting

A few years ago, we visited the coral reef off Key Largo.  Although I get sea sick, when the boat is not under power, I still enjoyed seeing the colorful tropical fish, and of course, the trip out and back.

Beautiful turquoise waters, stunning landscapes, fabulous wildlife.....the perfect day.

I am enjoying these palette knife paintings immensely.  I have been so intense about my brush work, that I had ignored the palette knife for months.  Now that I am working with it again, I am enjoying the freedom it brings.

Thanks for reading my blog today.

Wildlife Painting, Robin Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 5x7" Angry Robin

Angry Bird
$99

This little guy is my upside down painting.  I painted him upside down, as a drawing exercise, which is supposed to trick my brain.  Ha!

I'm not sure why he is so
angry, but I think it has something to do with the fact that he may have come back to North Carolina, just a little too early.  I think he is seriously thinking about turning around and heading back to Florida, because he is caught in a spring snow storm, here in the Blue Ridge Mts.

He is also my first painting, since I left my Florida home, to live here in the mountains around Asheville.  I may be following him back to Florida, if it doesn't warm up here soon!

He is 5x7" on oil and looking for a home, preferably in one of the more southern, warmer spots of the world.  Leave me a comment if you have to have him.

Wildlife Painting, Tropical Fish Painting, Palette Knife Painting, 9x12x.75" Oil

While unpacking, after moving from Florida to North Carolina, I found a few paintings that were never posted.

This one was inspired by a trip to Key Largo, a few years ago.  One of the highlights of the trip, was a cruise to the coral reefs.

I enjoy painting water with a palette knife and I love texture in a painting.  This piece has both.

Enjoy!

Pelican Painting, Wildlife Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, SOLD

We spent a lovely afternoon at Pt Canaveral recently.  Of course, we were surrounded by birds.

I was inspired by this pelican, hunkered down on a piling.

SOLD
I realized that many of the paintings, that give me the most joy, are birds.  I am committed to painting more of them.

The biggest block is getting good photos to work from.

I want to share some of my other photos from this trip to Pt. Canaveral.

As you can see, it was a wonderful day.  Grandson came along, making it even more special!

Wildlife Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 8x10" Oil

One of my favorite subjects is wildlife....but it is difficult.  For me, the most difficult aspect is getting that perfect image to work from.

I am lucky to have a friend, Kathy Garvey, who loves to visit the everglades, the wetlands, the beaches, taking wildlife photos.  She is so very generous, as she allows her friends to use her images.

Both of these paintings are from images Kathy, and her brother John, have shared.  What a wonderful gift they have given me!

If you are an photographer, consider sharing your work.  I am sure it will be appreciated!
