Daily Painting, Small OIl Painting, Nest Painting, "Nesting" by Carol Schiff, 12x12x1.5" Oil SOLD

This small oil painting is an attempt to paint a new subject for me.  I have been inspired by the nest paintings of  Julie Oliver Ford.......actually by all her paintings.  Julie does stunning nests in oils and watercolors.  When an opportunity presented it's self to me, I decided to give it a try.

SOLD
Unlike Julie, I used a palette knife to achieve the nest effect.

The original is sold, but it would be an adorable giclee print on canvas or wood planks, in the size of your choice.  Contact me if you are interested in details.

Gone to the Dogs! Puppy Portrait, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Pet Portrait

My niece Kayla, asked me to paint a small portrait of her dog.  It reminded me of all the dog portraits I did, when I first started painting.

People have such an emotional connection with their pets.

I  enjoy the personality that show in pictures of dogs and I strive to capture that quality in my paintings.

Some of my favorites...

Have a happy day!

Daily Painting, Seagull Painting, "The Three Stooges" by Carol Schiff, 6x8 Oil, SOLD

The three birds in today's daily painting look a little goofy to me.  Maybe they are hungry, or maybe they are plotting against another, but I just don't trust them.

SOLD
They remind me of my childhood and the notorious "Three Stooges", Larry, Moe and Curly.
You remember them don't you?  They were always getting into trouble.

They are looking at a fourth seagull....not in this painting, and I don't think it is in a friendly manner!  I hope to do a second painting of this group, including the fourth member.

The reference photo was shared from Shelley Smart at her wonderful blog here.  Shelley is a fantastic photographer and generous too.  She gave me permission to use her image years ago.  I hope you will visit her interesting blog, "A Year at the Beach", where she recorded the activity on the beach every day.
